Population Sampling Guidelines
The MISO Survey Team follows these guidelines when constructing stratified random samples of undergraduates. At larger institutions, the Survey also follows these guidelines when creating samples of faculty, staff, and special populations.

If using split sample technique, the sample size is:

Population: 800 – 1,000

- 500 people
If using split sample technique, the sample size is:
- The entire population
Population: 1,000 – 4,000
Population: 1,000 – 4,000
The standard sample size is:
- 700 people
If using split sample technique, the sample size is:
- 1,000 people
Population: 4,000 – 10,000
Population: 4,000 – 10,000
The standard sample size is:
- 1,000 people
If using split sample technique, the sample size is:
- 1,500 people
Population: greater than 10,000
Population: greater than 10,000
